# Basics

Essence Runes brings another Way to improve Character Stats with a big variety of possible Stats.\

Essence Runes are Character-Bound and not available to any other Character on your Account!

* Only Characters above Level 120 can register Runes.
* Each rune has a level restriction and can only be learned if the respective requirement level is fulfilled.
* Each Rune has a different Level and is splitted in 3 Levels
  * Rune I
  * Rune II
  * Rune III
* From the Beginning a Character has only 16 Rune Slots to learn Runes
  * To Increase the Capacity of Runes a "Rune Slot Extender - Essence" has to be used. More Informations can be found here: [Rune Slot Extender](/content/systems/runes/essence-runes/rune-slot-extender.md)
* Essence Runes are always active and dont need any Trigger to be activated.
  * This is applied for PvE and PvP Content
